Developers
Premium mailboxes for your tests, scripts, and AI agents.
The MailsDrop REST API and MCP server give programmatic access to the same Premium mailboxes you manage in the dashboard. Create receive-only addresses on premium domains, then read the messages they receive, such as verification codes and links in your own signup and QA flows.
1. Get an API key
API access is included in MailsDrop Premium; there is no separate developer plan. Sign in with Telegram, open the API & MCP tab on the home page, and create a key there. The key is shown once, so store it in a secret manager or your CI secrets.
Send the key as a bearer token with every request. You can have up to 5 keys and revoke any of them from the dashboard. If your Premium plan expires, requests return 403 Premium required until you renew.
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
Accept: application/json
2. REST API
Base URL: https://mailsdrop.com/api. Responses are JSON. Errors return a JSON body with an error field and a 4xx status.
| Method | Path | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| GET | /premium/domains | Premium domains you can use for new mailboxes. |
| GET | /premium/emails | Your mailboxes with id, email and messages_count. |
| POST | /premium/emails | Create a mailbox from username and domain. Returns 422 at the 10-mailbox limit. |
| DELETE | /premium/emails/{id} | Delete a mailbox and its stored messages. |
| GET | /premium/emails/{id}/messages | Messages for a mailbox, newest first, 20 per page (?page=2). |
Create a mailbox
curl -X POST https://mailsdrop.com/api/premium/emails \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $MAILSDROP_API_KEY" \
-H "Accept: application/json" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"username": "qa-signup", "domain": "PREMIUM_DOMAIN"}'
Wait for a verification email
There is no long-polling endpoint. Poll the messages endpoint every few seconds and stop when a message with the subject you expect arrives. Stay within 60 requests per minute per account.
for i in $(seq 1 20); do
curl -s https://mailsdrop.com/api/premium/emails/$MAILBOX_ID/messages \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $MAILSDROP_API_KEY" -H "Accept: application/json" \
| jq -e '.data[0] | select(.subject | test("Verify"))' && break
sleep 3
done
Each message includes from_address, subject, text, sanitized html, and received_at.
3. MCP server for AI agents
The MailsDrop MCP server lets an AI agent create a mailbox, wait for an email, and read a code or link without you copying anything by hand. It uses the Streamable HTTP transport at https://mailsdrop.com/mcp and the same API key.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http mailsdrop https://mailsdrop.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Limits and responsible use
- API and MCP access requires an active Premium plan.
- Every account can have at most 10 mailboxes in total, whether they are created in the dashboard, the Telegram app, the API, or MCP.
- Requests are limited to 60 per minute per account.
- Mailboxes are receive-only and cannot send or reply to email.
- Messages are stored until you delete the mailbox. Do not use them for banking, payments, or accounts you need to recover later.
- Use the API for your own products, authorised tests, and legitimate signups. Bulk account creation, bypassing another service's rules, and abuse are prohibited by the Terms of Use and lead to revoked access.
