Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MailsDrop temporary email.
Using temporary email safely
A temporary email inbox is useful for short-lived, low-risk tasks such as checking a confirmation message, trying a web tool, or testing an email form. It helps keep your primary inbox separate from signups that may send promotional follow-up messages.
Do not use a disposable email address for banking, payment services, password recovery, healthcare, work, travel, government services, or sensitive documents. If you need the account again, use a permanent email address that you control.
1. What is MailsDrop and how does it work?
MailsDrop is a free service that provides temporary email addresses. No registration is required. Simply visit the site, get a random address, and use it to sign up for websites you don't fully trust. Incoming emails will appear on this page instantly.
2. How long does a temporary email address last?
MailsDrop is intended for short-lived inbox use. Do not rely on a temporary address for messages or accounts that you need to access later.
3. Do I have to pay to use the service?
The core temporary inbox is free to use without registration. Premium mailbox features, where available, are presented separately.
4. Can I send emails from a temporary address?
No. To prevent abuse and combat spam, our service is designed for receiving emails only. The outgoing mail function is disabled at the server level.
5. How do I refresh the inbox list?
You don't need to click a "Refresh" button. Thanks to WebSockets technology, new emails appear in your list in real-time, just like in a modern messaging app.
6. Is it safe to use MailsDrop for sensitive information?
No. We strongly advise against using temporary mail for bank accounts, government services, or sensitive documents. Anyone who knows your temporary address could theoretically see the contents of the emails if they have access to your session token.
7. Can I choose my own custom username?
No, you can use a randomly generated address, provided the chosen domain is currently supported.
8. What should I do if the email doesn't arrive?
- Wait for 30–60 seconds.
- Ensure the sender used the exact address provided.
- Some services block temporary mail domains. If that happens, use a regular email address and respect the service's policy.
9. Do you store my real IP address?
We value your privacy. MailsDrop does not log personal user data and does not link your temporary inbox to your real-world location or identity.
10. Can I use the same address on multiple devices?
Yes. If you copy your unique access token (session URL), you can open the same inbox on another device as long as the session hasn't expired.
